Barack Obama paid 20.5% tax in 2011

US President Barack Obama has released his tax return for 2011, as he seeks to make taxation a key election issue with his Republican foes.
The return says Mr Obama paid an effective tax rate of 20.5% on total income of nearly $790,000 (£498,000). The president has recently advocated making wealthy Americans pay more tax.
Analysts say Mr Obama is attempting to characterise Mitt Romney, his wealthy Republican rival, as remote from ordinary economic concerns.

North Korea rocket launch 'fails'

The White House said on Thursday North Korea's failed rocket launch was a provocative
act that left the country isolated and in violation of international law.
"Despite the failure of its attempted missile launch, North Korea's provocative action threatens regional security, violates international law and contravenes its own recent commitments," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.
While this action is not surprising given North Korea's pattern of aggressive behavior, any missile activity by North Korea is of concern to the international community. The United States remains vigilant in the face of North Korean provocations, and is fully committed to the security (of) our allies in the region."

IPL 5: CSK vs RCB first Inning RCB 205/8 (20.0 Ovs)

After getting off to a flying start in the initial overs, it was almost certain that Chennai would be chasing a big total. Gayle batted sensibly and Virat pitched in, the duo set a solid platform and continued until the death overs. They should have got somewhere around 220-225 but they lost a flurry of wickets in the end, 5 wickets of 7 balls to be precise and 205 was all they managed to get. Can Chennai chase it down? Stay tuned, we'll be right back for the chase...First ball of the over and Kohli is caught by du Plessis at long-on. Second ball and Pujara is bowled. Bollinger is now on a hat-trick. Daniel Vettori manages to stave off charging Bollinger and manages to steal a single. Next delivery and Vettori is run out. He followed that up with the wicket of Bhatkal who slogs and is caught by Raina at mid-off. Vinay Kumar came in and pulled the last ball of the over for a six. RCB end their innings at 205/8.
